- Polygon is the only blockchain selected to participate in this year’s Disney Accelerator program.
- Disney said the 2022 event will focus on NFTs, AR, and AI characters.
Ethereum Layer 2 protocol Polygon is among the six web3 projects selected to participate in the 2022 Disney Accelerator program. The Walt Disney Company announced Polygon as a participant in a press release, noting the focus of this year’s program. According to the company, this year’s event will target building the future of immersive experience. Also, the program will focus on augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI) characters, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
“Raise your hand if you remember your first Disney experience like yesterday,”Polygon said in a tweet.
The ETH Layer 2 protocol announced its inclusion in the Disney Accelerator program.
Polygon stands alongside five other companies including Red 6, Obsess, an e-commerce platform that allows companies to create 3D stores for their website, and Lockerverse, a Web3 startup pushing the frontiers of storytelling.
Others participants selected include Flickplay, a company that enables users to find NFTs in the real world using AR, and Inworld, a firm using AI to create dynamic characters for gaming.
Disney Selected 6 Platforms for Acceleration Program.
FlickPlay is a multimedia tech company that activates exclusive content experiences at pop cultural locations using Augmented Reality (AR). The FlickPlay App engages its community in a dynamic game that empowers users’ creativity to capture unforgettable moments and unlock rewards from trending brands.
FlickPlay lives at the center of the emerging creator economy as well as the current digital art collectibles craze. It takes advantage of the enhanced AR capabilities of Apple’s new iPhone 13. And it’s easy and fun.
Inworld Studio allows creators to build any intelligent virtual character by simply describing the character in natural language. In crafting their character’s brain, creators are able to tailor many elements of cognition and behavior, such as goals and motivations, manners of speech, memories and knowledge, and voice. Upon completion, characters are trained and immediately ready to interact.
Users can jump straight into a conversation through the studio chat for testing, or use Inworld’s companion Oculus application to have a truly immersive VR interaction with their characters. Once ready, developers can then fully integrate characters into their games and experiences using Inworld’s integrations with the most popular game engines like Unity and Unreal.
Inworld AI provides a developer platform for creating AI-powered virtual characters to populate immersive realities including the metaverse, VR/AR, games, and virtual worlds. Our experts pioneered conversational AI platforms and generative models at API.AI (acquired by Google and now known as Dialogflow), Google, and DeepMind. We are continuing to build out our incredibly talented team, with experts in generative language models, emotions, speech synthesis, multimodal interaction, design, and 3D animation. Inworld AI is funded by investors including Kleiner Perkins, Bitkraft Ventures, CRV, Meta, and M12, Microsoft’s Venture Fund.
Lockerverse is a Web3 platform that empowers creators and brands to tell culture-defining stories and deliver unique access and experiences.
Obsess, a leading experiential e-commerce platform that enables brands to create interactive, shoppable online virtual stores and showrooms, today announced the launch of “Shop with Friends,” a feature that enables consumers to shop in virtual stores together with groups of friends. Charlotte Tilbury is among the brands giving their customers a way to turn online shopping into the kind of fun social activity among friends that it often is in real life with just the click of a button in their virtual stores.
Shop with Friends will enable store associates, stylists and influencers to guide shoppers to different areas within the virtual environment to demonstrate products and share styling tips. Wholesale sellers will also be able to use Shop with Friends to highlight products for buyers in virtual showrooms created by Obsess.
Obsess uses virtual-reality and augmented-reality technologies to create memorable, immersive digital flagship and pop-up store experiences for consumers and to digitize showrooms for wholesale buyers. Leading brands are partnering with Obsess to offer customers an immersive way to discover, shop and experience their products online.
Polygon, formerly known as the Matic Network, is a scaling solution that aims to provide multiple tools to improve the speed and reduce the cost and complexities of transactions on blockchain networks.
Polygon was created in India in 2017 and was originally called the Matic Network. It was the brainchild of experienced Ethereum developers—Jaynti Kanani, Sandeep Nailwal, and Anurag Arjun, as well as Mihailo Bjelic.
Polygon is a multi-level platform with the aim to scale Ethereum thanks to a plethora of sidechains, all of which aims to unclog with the main platform in an effective and cost efficient manner.
6. Red 6
Red 6 is an AR company that has created a patented headset and interface that works outdoors in dynamic, high-performance environments.
Red 6 has developed Airborne Tactical Augmented Reality System (A-TARS), an approach to Augmented Reality (AR) that enables it to work outdoors and in high speed, dynamic environments. This technology enables the full potential of Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) training by bringing the V and the C assets into the real world, facilitating within visual range maneuvering against synthetic threats.
As the Company focuses on its next-generation storytelling efforts, Disney will continue to work with companies like those in this year’s Accelerator class to help develop new technologies and storytelling canvasses to create connected experiences across physical, digital, and virtual worlds.
